The first meeting of the planning group
took place in Duesseldorf, Germany, Febr. 10th - 12th, 2005, chaired by the convenor, Rev. Helmut Weiss.

The major work was put into focussing in on a theme.
So the seminar will be dealing
with our human fragility and with destruction in its various dimensions,
with theological reflections in regard with these key-words, and
with "Seelsorge" (care of souls) responding and reacting to this, and also building up resources and prophylactic measures to live our life cheak to cheak to these realities, knowing a greater power than them, who is promising abundance of live!
The group also worked hard on setting up a structure for the week.

Quotes from the minutes:

The Congress must integrate three tasks:
· To work on a theme relevant for most of the people in the field of care and counselling all over the world
· To promote the issues and tasks of ICPCC stated in the constitution
· To give opportunities of experiences of the Polish context

There will be a Pre-Conference with the members of the ICPCC-council in advance. Ursula as President will invite for that.

And there will be some time after the Congress for the new council and especially the new board and co-ordinating committee to work on guidelines for the next term.

As decided in Bangalore the Congress will be held in two languages, in English and German.
German speaking care-givers especially from eastern countries of Europe should have the chance to attend.

Workshops will be offered in both languages, too, English and German .

Tthere will be space for meetings with the ICPCC Council and regional groups.

Psychiatrists from Norway and other countries will offer consultations to people who might have problems in dealing with mentally disturbed patients.

A day in Wroclaw with a programme there and a trip to the "Giant Mountains" and other activities will give us a flavour of the history and beauty of Poland.

Participants may announce issues for caucus and interest groups.

One group should continue the discussion on
"Developing formation in pastoral care and counselling in various local contexts" which was started in Bangalore.

To enhance the mutual exchange and the learning experiences in the Congress the PG group decided to limit the number of participants to 160.

Scholarships
Since there are different rates for the rooms there will be different fees for single rooms, double rooms and three bed rooms.
Members of the ICPCC board and coordinating committee will be responsible for collecting and distributing scholarships. There should be clear and open criteria for granting scholarships.

Co-operation between ICPCC Board and Planning Group
The PG reports to the ICPCC board about its activities and plans (budget included). The board members (except the convenor and the treasurer as members of the PG) will control the work of the PG. The members of board, coordinating committee and council are invited to bring in their ideas and remarks.
